Boston Celtics Complete Sweep of Nets with 116-112 Win in Game 4 of the Playoffs
On Monday night, the Boston Celtics completed their first-round sweep of the Nets, winning 116-112 in Game 4 in Brooklyn. It was a lot closer than it had to be, but the Celtics got the job done and will now get some rest before the second round. It’s sweet retribution for the Celtics, eliminated in the first round of the NBA Playoffs by the Nets in five games last season.
Bucks-Bulls will face Boston Celtics

The champion of the Bucks-Bulls playoff will face Boston Celtics. Despite fouling out with 2:25 left in the game, Jayson Tatum finished with 29 points, five assists, and three rebounds. Marcus Smart had 20 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and Jaylen Brown had 22 points. With 14 points and some tenacious defense against Kevin Durant, Grant Williams was a significant contributor off the bench.
Kevin dominated Brooklyn with 39 scores despite making only 13 of his 31 field goal attempts. Kyrie Irving scored 20 points on a 6-for-13 shooting. In the series, Durant scored 32-for-83 against Boston’s defense. He was a non-factor for the duration of the game.
Boston on midway
Boston went on a 10-0 run midway through the quarter. Early in, both teams struggled to get going as the referees used their whistles extensively. With Derrick White accounting for half of the team’s points, the Celtics only led by four points, 30-26, at the half.
The Celtics pulled away in the second quarter, with Tatum scoring eight points. And Grant Williams is hitting some three-pointers to go along with his outstanding defense against Durant. Boston led by eight points at halftime, 58-50. Tatum scored 12 points in the third quarter, and Boston led by 12 going into the fourth. As Tatum took a rest, the Nets went on a 6-0 run to start the fourth period. And a Durant bucket put it 90-84 with little over 10 minutes of play.
In addition, Brown put Boston up 105-99 with a fantastic pull-up while being foul by Irving. With 4:35 remaining on Boston’s next possession, Smart tipped in a Williams miss to increase the lead to eight.
10.3 seconds remaining, Durant missed a three, and the Celtics snatched the ball, with Smart sinking both of his free throws. With 2.7 seconds left, he hit two more to give the Celtics the win – and the series. The Celtics have now swept the first round in three of the last four postseasons. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving swept for the first time in their careers.
