Kiefer Ravena Earns a Spot in Gilas Pilipinas’ Team for the 6th SEA Games Gold

Kiefer Ravena has named Gilas Pilipinas’ 12-man team for the biannual showcase in Hanoi, Vietnam, where he will compete for a record-extending sixth Southeast Asian Games gold medal. Despite being dropped out of the original 16-man Gilas Pilipinas pool, Kiefer Ravena includes on the Philippine Olympic Committee’s roster of SEA Games participants.

Despite being left out of the first 16-man pool revealed in March, Ravena includes on the list of athletes issued by the Philippine Olympic Committee on Thursday, May 5.

After winning gold medals in the 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019 SEA Games. he seasoned guard holds the record for the most gold medals in basketball earned by a Filipino.

Kiefer Ravena will conclude his debut season before joining the National Squad. Ravena will finish his first season with the Shiga Lakestars in the Japan B. League. Kiefer brought in as a substitute for the injured Jayson Castro. After failing to make the initial pool at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

June Mar Fajardo, Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, Matthew Wright. Thirdy Ravena, Isaac Go, Kib Montalbo, Kevin Alas, William Navarro, and Mo Tautuaa will join Ravena in the lineup.

Francis “LeBron” Lopez, a teen, rounds out the lineup. Dwight Ramos, Robert Bolick, Poy Erram, and Japeth Aguilar are noticeably missing from the 16-man pool.

Due to a calf injury, Aguilar only played the last three games. Of the recent PBA Governors’ Cup finals for eventual winner Barangay Ginebra. Caelum Harris, a youngster, also left out.

In addition, Gilas Pilipinas will compete in the regional meet on May 12. In hopes of winning their 14th consecutive gold medal and 19th overall.
