MW Championships: Air Force Women’s Tennis Faces UNLV in the First Round of the tournament

MW Championships: Air Force women’s tennis will compete in the Mountain West Women’s Tennis Championships in 2022. It is against the fourth-seeded UNLV on Thursday, April 28. The MW Championships run April 27-30 at the El Conquistador Tucson, in Tucson, Ariz.

Air Force is the fifth seed in the tournament and will face UNLV in the quarterfinals after receiving a first-round bye. The Falcons finished the season 17-7 and 6-4 in the league, six conference titles for the MW era (the previous record was four). Also, the Falcons are having their 13th consecutive winning season, the longest in Academy history. Senior Vivian Glozman and freshman Karina Chao are both All-MW picks for Air Force. Zita Kovacs leads the Rebels in singles with a 22-9 record, including a 16-5 record at No. 2 singles in duals play. Aura Fang and CoCo Zhao are the best doubles team in the tournament, going 16-5. Also, at No. 3 doubles, he has a 14-3 record in duals play.

Most recent meeting: On April 23, the Falcons were defeated 4-3 by UNLV to end the regular season.

MW Championship previous moment: The Air Force last competed in the MW Championships in San Diego, California, in 2019. The #2 Falcons went 1-1 in the tournament, winning 4-1 in the quarterfinals before succumbing 4-2 in the semifinals against #3 San Diego State.
