Japan’s captain Mika Shibata was named the 2022 PNVF AVC Cup for Women’s Most Valuable Player at the Arena. They defeated China with a score of 25-23, 25-21, 19-25, and 25-16 in the game held at the Philsport Arena in Pasig City.
What’s more? The Japanese went undefeated during their campaign, winning all six games.
Mika Shibata, the team’s captain, and best setter, was emotionally overcome after winning the Cup.
“We did extremely well in this short amount of time.” We recruited some players from the Japan V. League and were able to highlight everyone’s ability to play. “That was fantastic for our team,” Shibata remarked.
“I am happy for my first championship, especially because we won it all together, which was fantastic.”
“Despite the lack of preparation, we performed well in that we had all of the top players in the Japanese V.League and were able to emphasize everyone’s excellence.” So that’s what our squad is good at,” the eventual MVP added.
Thailand captain Pornpun Geudpard was named Best Setter, and star spiker Chachu-on Moksri was named Best OH.
“We’re a young team.” We learned a lot from this tournament experience. After all, we’ll work hard and improve for the next time,” Chinese coach Kuang Qi stated through an interpreter.
The outstanding setter guided Hinoroti Nippon to their first-ever AVC Cup for Women triumph, denying China a fourth consecutive win.
Hiroyo Yamanaka and Rena Mizusugi, both Hinotori Nippon standouts, were named Best Middle Blockers (MB) awards and Best Libero, respectively.
The tournament’s winners were Wu Mengjie (China) and Chatchu-on Moksri (Thailand) as the Best Outside Hitters. Hiroyo Yamanaka (Japan) and Hu Mingyuan (China) were the best middle blockers (China). Best Opponent Zhou Yetong (China), Best Setter Pornpun Guedpard (Thailand), and Best Libero Rena Mizusngi (Japan).
